John Davies from Cyber Wales commented: “Wales has the fastest growing digital economy outside of London, as well as the largest globally recognised cyber ecosystem in the UK, so we know that there is a huge opportunity here in Wales. It’s fantastic to have a grassroots initiative like GlobalWelsh which can connect companies in the Welsh Cyber Clusters with leading people in industry who can provide a different perspective and bring valuable knowledge to the table."

Mr Davies left Wales over 30 years ago to pursue opportunities that weren’t available to him in Wales. He went on to carve out an impressive and successful career in technology, previously holding the positions of CEO of Alterian PLC and Sword Group PLC, and now Clearswift. He has extensive international experience building his businesses across global markets including Europe, North America, Australia, Vietnam, China, India and South Africa. Mr Davies comments:

“I have always looked for ways in which I could give back and GlobalWelsh has given me a platform to do this. Wales is clearly rich in tech talent and has great potential in the cyber-security space. I am looking forward to spending time with these companies, listening to their stories, their challenges, and sharing my knowledge and experiences with them.”

Like many successful Welsh people who have left Wales, Mr Davies remains passionate about his roots. GlobalWelsh is helping Welsh businesses forge unique connections and opportunities between those living inside and outside of Wales, which in turn can help strengthen Wales’ business landscape, Walter May, CEO of GlobalWelsh, commented:

“It’s time for Wales to capitalise on the power of its diaspora. One of the ways to do this is by harnessing the wealth of worldly knowledge and experience of expats like Heath with businesses here in Wales. These sorts of opportunities are only available through the cultivation of connections and the building of community networks which is what we’re here to do. I want to thank Heath for his continued support as a Founding Patron and for providing this unique and valuable opportunity.”
