6 Valleys based entrepreneurs selected for #PitchItValleys final

On the 20th June BeTheSpark, in partnership with Development Bank of Wales, Our Valleys, Our Future and the Welsh Government hosted the first round of #PitchItValleys in the vibrant Coleg Y Cymoedd, Aberdare Campus. An event showcasing a great example of BeTheSpark in action.

Pitch It Valleys Finalists

This event facilitated an opportunity for 15 ambitious entrepreneurs based in the Valleys to pitch their businesses to a panel of five angel investors for the chance to be selected for the final in November and go on to pitch for £75k of equity investment each.

The judges and audience were blown away by the calibre, enthusiasm and ambition shown by each of the 15 individuals who pitched. The judges intended on selecting five finalists however, after tough deliberation they selected six entrepreneurs to progress. On top of being selected for the final, our investors will support each entrepreneur through a bespoke investor readiness support with the intention of increasing the likelihood of investment come the final in November.

The 6 entrepreneurs are:

Dog Furiendly

Chocolate House

Terry’s Patisserie

Nightingale HQ

Old Faithful

Wardill Motorcycles

In true BeTheSpark style, our event included a surprising curveball. The judging panel were so impressed by the pitch delivered by Abigail Dymmock and Sophie Brown, co-founders of Jack and Amelie, they declared that on top of the six finalists, they would like to start investment conversations with the two female founders immediately following the day’s event.

Jack and Amelie

We will be following the investment journey of the six finalists, as well as Jack and Amelie, over the next few months so keep your eyes peeled for our next blog post on #PitchItValleys…
