Meet Wales based entrpereneur and CEO Chris Ganje of AMPLYFI

Chris Ganje CEO of AMPLYFI shares with us his greatest business achievement along with his greatest challenges as an entrepreneur. His top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur and why he believes BeTheSpark is important for Wales.

Who is Chris Ganje and how was AMPLYFI born?

Originally from Upstate New York, prior to co-founding AMPLYFI, I held a number of leadership positions at BP. Before leaving BP, I managed its assessment of potential technology disruptions to the global energy system out to 2050. Despite having access to ‘best practice’ business intelligence tools, the findings from this analysis were hugely restricted by human research-based limitations such as natural bias and opinions, capacity, speed, and cost. It was this realisation that promoted myself and Ian Jones (AMPLYFI co-founder) to develop the concept of leveraging leading artificial intelligence techniques to drive business intelligence and research in ways that standard internet search engines like Google can’t achieve. AMPLYFI’s flagship product, DataVoyant™️, is the first commercial technology of its kind and is bringing about a paradigm shift in the business intelligence and research industry. We’re already turning heads at some of the world’s leading organisations and institutions and we’re only just at the very start of our journey.

What do you consider to be your greatest business achievement to date?

Deciding to headquarter in Cardiff where we’ve been able to assemble a group of the most talented people I’ve ever met to get after what is a massive business opportunity.

What has been the greatest challenge you have faced as an entrepreneur?

One person’s challenge is another person’s opportunity! AMPLYFI is all about spotting and pursuing opportunities.

What’s the one piece of advice you would give your younger self?

Never lose sight of your innate desire to prove people wrong when they tell you that something can’t be done

What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

  1. Willingness to take risks
  2. Ability to spot talent to build the best team around you
  3. Resiliency

What is the best piece of business advice you have ever been given?

“Say what you’re going to do and then do what you say”. It seems simple, but many people suffer the consequences of not following through with their dreams, not delivering, or being easily diverted from their missions.

Why do you think BeTheSpark is so important for Wales?

BeTheSpark encourages entrepreneurs to recognise the opportunities and support systems that are available. By encouraging collaboration and cohesion under a single, collective entity, it helps put Wales on the map as the leading host for exciting, innovative start-ups in the UK. It is movements like BeTheSpark that inspire people with great business ideas to recognise and fulfil their potential.

How are you/do you plan on supporting the movement?

AMPLYFI already have strong links having previously worked with both Caroline Thompson (BeTheSpark CEO) through our participation in Entrepreneurial Spark’s Cardiff hub and Ashley Cooper represented on our Board. As a major contributor to Wales’ innovation ecosystem we welcome the opportunity to participate in and benefit from initiatives such as BeTheSpark.

What’s next for AMPLYFI?

We’ve attracted such significant interest that we’re struggling to keep up with demand from new and existing clients for our core product DataVoyant™️. Consequently, we are rapidly transitioning from start-up to scale-up and beyond. We are currently expanding both the team and our physical footprint at our HQ in Tramshed Tech in Cardiff and will be launching our Series A funding round later in the year.

Our ultimate goal is to become the leader in the global business intelligence, research, and big data analytics markets.
