Where ‘the Arts’ Meets STEM at University of South Wales

The University of South Wales is calling SMEs and organisations across Wales looking for creative solutions to real-world problems to get involved with its new STEAM Exchange.

University South Wales - STEAM Exchange

USW has a thriving creative industries faculty based in the heart of Cardiff. The faculty has recently launched a new STEAM Exchange - a mechanism by which creative talent can engage with science, technology, engineering and maths to provide creative solutions to real-world problems.

This initiative will provide support to SMEs and organisations from the STEM area across Wales with access to research and innovation expertise, and provide a catalyst for academic staff and students to innovate and apply new knowledge through collaboration and external engagement.

Areas of particular interest include Immersive Technology, Design Thinking, and Arts & Health.

The STEAM Exchange aims to:

  • Provide SMEs and organisations with access to USW's considerable talent and skills in the creative and design sector.
  • Offer SMEs and organisations access to specialist facilities including fabrication, studio space, and digital & game design technology within USW’s Cardiff campus.
  • Utilise new and emerging technology in order to develop creative proposals and solutions to defined ‘problems’ presented by external partners.
  • Host STEAM Exchange networking events where organisations are welcomed to bring their challenges to the table and discuss creative solutions with specialist academic staff.

If you are interested in getting involved with the STEAM Exchange and would like to discuss a project or if you would like to come along to the next STEAM Exchange networking event then please contact:
