BenignEye

A product developed through collaboration in North Wales.

Tim Jones has worked with North Wales School of Business and the School of Creative Arts at Glyndwr University to develop BenignEye, a computer monitoring system which is designed to support the vulnerable elderly living alone and give peace of mind to friends and relatives. He had the inspiration from his late mum who lived independently and was happy to test the BenignEye.

The intelligent monitoring system consists of a data concentrator and communications hub (DCCH) which collects information from monitoring devices such as PIR motion sensors, smart plugs, door switches, temperature or flood sensors and floor or chair pressure mats. These monitor the individual’s movement and can pick up if the individual gets up later than normal, when they use the kettle or not at all, when they have accessed the fridge, if they have been up more times than normal during the night and even the room temperature.
