Women Tech Cymru Summer conference
The Women in Tech Cymru summer conference will be held in Aberystwyth University’s iconic Old College building. With a keynote from Philippa Davies, an unconference, a panel session on skills, and a tech tasters strand there should be something for all women in tech and their friends.
Thanks to sponsorship from BCS Mid Wales we are able to offer a Lego Robotics workshop for kids aged 6-16, alongside the conference. This will be supervised by experienced outreach workers from the award-winning Aberystwyth Robotics Club.
The day is free and open to all (we welcome humans of all genders), but you have to register. If you want to purchase a supporters ticket to help us out, then that would be great - we have supporters tickets at various levels.
Keynote: Philippa Davies: Designing For Digital
Digital creation involves technical knowhow, user psychology, design skills and team playing - along with testing and re-testing. In this keynote, Philippa will steer us through a design format which can be used for apps, online learning, websites and e book creation, for any subject whatsoever. She’ll analyze the key skills in making effective digital products and suggest ways of developing these skills.
Philippa is a psychologist who helped integrate JohnLewis.com into the main business, ran WordPress Users Wales, and has been a member of app and network development teams. A STEM ambassador, she taught for Software Alliance Wales and has spoken about her community web work at Facebook. Her work is always interactive and light-hearted.
